About the Dogs

This is Babe, our tripod (3-legged) Rottweiler mix.
She lost her left rear leg as a result of infection
when she chewed her foot off as a puppy. But there
was nothing to do, incarcerated in a crate for 5 months!
It had to be amputated to save her, but she is a very
happy, playful and obedient dog. Oh, she's also
the smartest dog we've ever had here! She seems
to understand English and is a fantastic watch dog!
Visit her on her very own web page, here: Babe's Blog
Buck was rescued after being abandoned and left
to wander. He was picked up by animal control after
surviving on his own for quite some time. He was skinny
and covered with fleas and ticks. Now neutered and cleaned
up, he's here with us and seems to enjoy the other dogs.
Thanks to Ozark Haven Rescue in Missouri for saving his life!
And to everyone who helped transport him into Nebraska!
We sure enjoy him and his enthusiasm for life!
This is Jager (say "Yay Grr"), an old dog now, but
it's hard to tell, as he's so energetic and playful.
The only signs of aging are his graying muzzle and
the fact that he's going deaf. Jager has a new lease
on life these days, too. He lived in a pen the first 10
years of his life, and he got out just 2 years ago.
This new freedom may account for his freewheeling
attitude and his extreme gratefulness for any attention.
This is our "Christmas Carol," a very sweet lab
found running like crazy down a country road a
week before Christmas, as if she were trying
to catch up with someone... perhaps someone
who dumped her in the country? We will never
know, probably, but she is a very sweet girl.
After spending 3 days in "doggie jail," she is now
in a new home. She's very smart and obedient.
